Orrisa Doctors to go on Strike From Sunday
Posted by pragmaticideas on November 8, 2008
2,500 doctors in Orissa have decided to go ahead with a strike despite the government imposing the Essential Services Maintenance Act. They are staging the strike for the sacking three of their colleagues by the Government for postmortem in the Kalinga Nagar violence in January 2006. They had been sacked for removing palms of the bodies during postmortem. Medical fraternity in Orissa says, their colleagues are being made scapegoats, for decisions taken by the administration and the police. Clearly, it will be the ordinary people who will be most affected by the fight between the government and doctors. The strike begins on Tomorrow.
