12,000 LTTE Cadres were Killed, Srilankan Army


Sri Lanka’s army chief has said that 12,000 Tamil Tiger guerrillas have been killed in the past two and a half years and ’80 percent of the war’ was over, a media report said on Tuesday. Lt. Gen. Sarath Fonseka said those words when he was addressing the media in wake of the silver jubilee of the Gajaba Regiment at the regimental headquarters at Saliyapura. He also said that more than 80 percent of the Regime has come under the Army’s control and they are left with a small area and that even will be captured soon. It was said there was no 12,000 LTTE cadres when the battle started, when days went and the LTTE number was reduced, They ( LTTE ) started Recruiting more Cadres.” We are sure that we will be able to see an end to this war soon, though we cannot give deadlines “. he said. Troops are marching from the west to the east on four fronts to capture Kilinochchi and Mullaitivu, also reported.
