Phoenix Group Global on Friday(17-10-2008) announced the launch of its own brand of luxury hotels,Zuri Hotels and Resorts. The company plans to spend Rs.450 crore to built branded luxury Hotels and Resorts. The Bangalore based group that currently runs three hotels across India under a franchise agreememt with Carlson Hospitality is also planning to expand its Floriculture business in India by investing Rs. 150 crore and setup farm in South India.
The group was focussing on Tire-II cities to open hotels, ie in Kochin, Mysore, Nagpur and other small metros. they also planned to enter the Northern states, starting with Delhi and its adjoining Towns. They have also raised funds to finance the expansion through a consortium of investors and debts.
Punjab, the grannary of India, ranks below countries like Honduras and Vietnam in terms of hunger levels while Madhya Pradesh has the most severe level of hunger in the country, followed by Jarkhand and Bihar, say’s a report. Indian states are compared to countries in the 2008 Global Hunger Index, madhya Pradesh ranks in between Ethiopia and Chad. Punjab, best performing state , is below Gabon, Honduras and Vietnam.
The rank is given on 3 basic compartment 1) Prevalence Of Child malNutrition 2) Rate Of Child Morality 3) The Proportion Of People Who are Calorie Deficient. All these are combined to form one Index to give a rank. Indian State Hunger Index found that “12” states fell in the “alarming” Catogery, and one state Madhya Pradesh fell in “Extremely Alarming” Category. Four states Kerala, Punjab, Harayana, Assam were in “Serious” Catogery.
Boeing and Airbus, leading global Aircraft makers, are Bullish on the Indian Avation market for the next 20 yrs in spite of the current world wide economic slowdown. In the conference of “India-Avation-2008” here on Thursday (17-10-2008) Dinesh A.Keskar, senior Vice-President, Sales, Boeing commercial Airplanes, said he was “Bullish” on India than other places as the forecast for the Economic growth for the next 20 yrs for the country was expected to be 6.7 precent as against the world average of 3.2 precent.
The Indian domestic Air service had increased dramatically over the past 10 yrs from 64 % in 1997 to 198 % in 2007. Foreign travel to/from India had grown by 78 % in the past 4 yrs
